Just Completed..To Be Varnish...

Tonite..inbetween waiting for the inaugaration of Pres Obama..I managed the fial touches to these two pieces. I am still with the small stuffs..he..he..not sure when I will manage a bigger more challenging items...Well..for now..I am still getting the hang of the strokes on actual surfaces and still getting stuck on which part to do first and this will lead to getting squeezed in putting the different parts together...

I am still :
  • Figuring out how to get the edges of my strokes smooth..sometimes it jagged due to dryness..with a little water it gets too wet..so..I am in getting this part to be more consistent..

  • My leaves are everywhere...sometimes ok sometimes urghh....but better...I still need to decide which kind I like best so that I can focus on it and get it right...

  • My roses seems more consistent whenever I remember the steps and number of strokes... I will get stuck if I need to highlights with white the edges..I will definitely smear the whites everywhere...I try changing brushes to do this...but it till do not become what I would like it to be...

Anyway....enjoy these 2 stuffs..I will need to varnish them next...it looks better after varnishing couple of layers....

Anyone would like to have it??

Gifts to Go...

The above items are done tonite..with the use of hair dryer..it makes everything super quick.. not without some demerits..but let it be for now...Suddenly..I realise..I dont have a gift for tomorrow to visit a little girl....I was contemplating should I or should I not..and finally I thought..well...handmade can be perfect..good..but sometimes in my case the jitters came and shook up everything..thus the bad writing.. But I guess..biar aje lah..if I practised with pen and paper it turns out great..but use brush and paint..urghh.. so far that's how it turns out...
Other tahn the handwriting..I would like to say that my roses are becoming like the ones I want..it may not be perfect or even great..but it's almost to what I want...next..I got to pick-up on the leaves and try out other flowers....From the rectangular block you see above that I had painted on..my plans are to have a set of 4 different flowers and package them as a plate server or sort of place mats..too small?? It's for the serving...esyh..apa nama nya älas pinggan/mangkuk lauk in English...terlupa lah pulak...
I do believe painting on actual surface gives me more confidence..but I am still hesitant in making a bigger piece......once I get my strokes better..than I will be more ready....

Bookcase to China Cabinet...

I have been looking for an open space China cabinet for quite sometime...since acquiring some new pieces after moving to Dhahran. But I couldn't get or find one that satisfy my requirements. I want to be able to use as and when needed the pieces that I have..so doors are cumbersome.. Alas...when my garage was flooded..I had to shift some stuffs around and thus..got the idea on why not use the bookcase as my China cabinets..its gonna save me some money in buying a new one..... So..this is how the bookcase looks now...

Reminders...

I have done this sign quite sometime back... since I hate to repaint it bcos it serves as a reminder to the stages I went thru in my painting quest..I decided to varnish it eventhough the lettering were everything that could have gone wrong..Not to say that the lettering I am doing now is good...but at last it is better ha..ha..ha... Anyway..I decided to put it up in my guest washroom.... Truth be known..the washroom is a frequented place whenever guests came by...for occupants it serves as emergency stops or final touch up place..due to the fact..each like their own washroom better..privacy that is....

Topiari and Welcome sign for Linda...

Just completed these today...After a long time due to many eventful happenings and short of materials..finally I manage to complete these 2 items for Linda. But I still have a few floral swags and cinnamon to complete for her. I am still practising my strokes..sometimes it looks good on paper while practising but it ends up slightly off on the actual surface..I am not that dissapointed though...but I know..I will have to be more consistent in painting while deciding which style to follow. Why I usually got stuck is because I will want want to be doing the strokes differently but my hand is so tuned to a certain way..so that's it...and I need to decide whatis to be expected from all this....No matter what I enjoyed just doing them..and I hope the owner do too..for these items.
